My ambition to start a scholarship fund began in 2023 when I started considering the creation of memorial scholarships for two of my most beloved grandparents. It wasn't until a year later, when I thought about what kind of scholarship I'd want in my own name that the idea for the SPASO30 scholarship was born...

I'm a 40-year-old pre-PA student currently applying to PA school. I am a former U.S. Navy medic fortunate enough to have the GI Bill to cover most or all of my expenses at the affordable public universities in Texas. I greatly appreciate this blessing and wish to give back by making it just a little easier for fellow students over age 30 who don't have the military benefit that I have. My personal funds limited the initial fund endowment and annual scholarship award, but I'm hoping to offer higher awards in the future as the endowment grows. In the meantime, I'm still of the mindset that every little bit counts. If that rings true for you, I warmly welcome you to apply for our first award in 2025!
